A 23-year-old man appeared before magistrates yesterday charged with the manslaughter of a father-of-two.
David Michael Saunders, of Rochester Street, Brighton, is accused of killing Mark Watson, 43, of Grand Parade, Brighton.
Mr Watson, unemployed and estranged from his children and their mother, died after a fight in Newick Road, Moulsecoomb, Brighton, on Monday evening.
Jobless Saunders was remanded in custody and will appear at Lewes Crown Court on October 28.
He waved at friends and family in the public gallery before he was led away.
Bail was refused.
A second person arrested in connection with the inquiry, a man in his 20s and from Brighton, has been released on bail.
