Delays are expected in the main shopping streets of Brighton and Hove during the next two weeks.
The city council today began resurfacing Western Road in Brighton.
The work is taking place on weekdays between 9.30am and 6pm except for a short section around Woolworths, where work will be carried out over two nights on November 3 and 4 from 7pm. The road will be closed then.
Temporary traffic controls will be in operation and roads will be subject to temporary closures during working hours. The work should be completed by November 5.
Buses will still run but follow alternative routes during the evening closures. Some bus stops will be suspended. Delays are expected while the work is being carried out.
Work started in September to remove road humps and chicanes and replace them with new pedestrian crossing islands.
