Albion caretaker Bob Booker has urged his players to confirm their unrivalled reputation as the comeback kings of the Second Division.
Each of the table-topping Seagulls' six defeats were followed immediately by a victory when they lifted the title two years ago. They also bounced straight back this season after losing at Barnsley and Colchester.
Booker wants the remarkable run to continue at his old club Brentford following Saturday's 1-0 setback at Bournemouth.
"I don't think the players need motivating for this game after Saturday," said Booker. "I don't think I have got to say a lot.
"We let ourselves down, we know we are better than that. We took a big following down to Bouenemouth. Football is an expensive business and the fans will expect more.
"The players have been made aware of that, but we don't want to make a crisis out of it. It's one game and we have got an early chance to put it right.
"They know what is required. We will go there and give it our best shot. We don't like losing games and we intend to put it right."
The players have no idea who will be their eighth manager in six years after Steve Coppell's departure to Reading, but Richard Carpenter refuses to use that as an excuse.
The central midfielder, poised for the 400th League appearance of his career tonight, said: "It shouldn't have an effect on the players. We know Bob and nothing has changed.
"Unfortunately Steve has gone. He was a good manager and well respected by the players, but that's now in the past.
"We were a shadow of our former selves on Saturday, but the dressing room is strong and united and we want to put things right."
Top scorer Leon Knight was kept out of Monday's training session as a precaution after sustaining a toe injury in the closing stages at Bournemouth.
Gary Hart is expected to recover from a knock he suffered in yesterday's session at Withdean, so Booker is likely to name an unchanged side.
Carl Wilson-Denis has been told Albion will not pursue their interest when the striker's short-term contract expires at the end of the month.
The LDV Vans Trophy Southern Section second round tie against Boston takes place at Withdean on Tuesday, November 4 (7.45pm).
