Britons are facing a retirement crisis with a third of workers failing to save enough towards their pension, an insurance trade body has warned.
The Association of British Insurers said 36 per cent of workers were not saving enough for their retirement, with 80 per cent of non-savers not putting any money aside at all.
The ABI has previously estimated Britons need to increase their saving by £27 billion a year if they are to live comfortably when they give up work.
It said the research, which is part of a new quarterly index it is launching, showed that many people were confused about the choices that faced them.
