In The Times on Tuesday, Anthony Howard reported on a proposed building to be erected above South Kensington station.

"South Ken" has many elegant buildings but now the station site will house a 143-foot glass tower that could hardly fit more incongruously with the neighbouring domes and turrets and the museums.

It has nothing to offer except aesthetic offence, says Mr Howard. I wonder what he would think of the proposal to erect a similar monstrosity on the King Alfred site?

I doubt he would understand the thinking of the Labour and Green councillors who are so keen to spoil the the city with this ill-conceived building.

Councillors have given the go-ahead to a design which has been ridiculed by most people, including many eminent architects.

There is nothing this high in the area and to erect this ugly monster will spoil the area and the coastline.
