It will be interesting to see the reaction of the environment committee to Gillespies' strategy on tall buildings (The Argus, October 15).

On the strength of six points alone, had the strategy always been in place, there would not be a single building in the city over six stories high.

Given some of the monstrosities we have to live with, this would have been something of a blessing.

The council and all concerned would do well to look around them lest we spoil the city once again with yet more out-of-place eyesores.

They should adopt the strategy and stick to it rigidly.

The requirements for traffic impact, wind tunnel effects, accessibility and green space around such constructions, let alone the other 21 points, would be more than enough to safeguard us against much more high-rise building.
