Soldiers are being killed every day in Iraq, our crime is up by nine per cent, child poverty in the UK is on the increase and the NHS is in dreadful state.
But what are the people of Brighton and Hove concerned about? Certainly none of the above.
The majority seem to be more concerned about, yes, the new Tesco store in Church Road, Hove.
I am getting a bit fed up with reading about the hard-up shopkeepers in George Street and Blatchington Road who are being affected by the new store.
Can I remind people that long before Tesco came, these two roads were full of charity shops and cafes.
They were two of the most boring streets in the city.
Now at least George Street has gone continental with cafes able to put chairs and tables in the street. This is a great improvement.
Thousands of people shop at Tesco so it must serve the community well.
