Employers are beginning to take ageism in the workplace seriously but much still remains to be done, the Government said.
A third of bosses said they had a policy in place to deal with ageism and a further 38 per cent plan to introduce one in the future, according to a survey carried out by the Cranfield School of Management for the Government.
But 31 per cent of firms have no clear plans for dealing with discrimination against older people.
