The article about the Rev Debbie Gaston referring to the feelings of rejection from the Christian Church to homosexuals made me sad (The Argus, October 20).
The most specific quote about homosexuality is in the Old Testament which I have found difficult to equate with a loving God.
To the Christian, it prophesises the coming Messiah to set God's people free. The Jews still await His coming and Christians believe God revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.
Yet this book is full of a God who urges warfare, animal sacrifices and the stoning of women taken in adultery.
We do practice warfare but not the latter two. Do we yet understand what makes one person in a large family into a sociopath or a child brought up in a very good family autistic?
While I do not understand why people are homosexual, I am sure if I were distressed, I could go to Debbie because she has suffered and would understand my own feelings of being shunned.
