Six people were arrested after a brawl outside an East Sussex pub.
About 30 people were believed to have been involved in the fight outside the Terminus Hotel in Hailsham at 12.40am on Saturday.
Extra police officers and police dogs were drafted in from Eastbourne to deal with the crowd.
Chief Inspector Peter Mills said: "This was an excellent piece of work undertaken by Hailsham officers.
"Not only were they first on scene to deal with a large disturbance but they were also able to make two arrests for public order offences before their colleagues from other parts of the division arrived.
"Positive action was highlighted by the officers from Eastbourne and the dog unit, who provided back up and dispersed the remaining crowd with minimal arrests."
