Three people jumped from the first floor of a house in East Sussex after their TV caught fire.
Firefighters were called to the terraced house in Coast Road, Pevensey, shortly after midnight.
One of the householders is believed to have fallen asleep watching TV downstairs when the set caught alight.
He managed to escape from the back of the house and raise the alarm.
The three other people upstairs made the leap from a window on to concrete below.
Leading Firefighter Richard James, based in Eastbourne, was on the scene with colleagues from the Pevensey station.
He said: "There was a lot of smoke from the TV, which I think woke him up."
Paramedics checked people over before relaying them to Eastbourne District General Hospital.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Ambulance said one person was suffering the effects of smoke and one had a knee injury.
