A Mid Sussex postmaster is preparing to weigh his last parcel after 46 years behind the counter.
John Thwaites, 61, has worked at the Worlds End Stores, Leylands Road, Burgess Hill, since the age of 15.
Originally owned by his father, John eventually bought his brother Jim out of the family business when he retired four years ago.
However, John has now decided to call time on the dynasty and retire himself, although the store will continue trading as it has been taken over.
John, of Sparrow Way, Burgess Hill, said: "It's the people I will miss the most.
"And it's definitely sad that it's not going to be in the family any more.
"But it feels like it's time for me to go."
