There has been a lot said and written about my ejection from our game with Sheffield last Sunday.

It was a cup tie we lost in pretty controversial circumstances after I was thrown out of the game having picked up two technical fouls.

Much of what I have read about the incidents on the internet this week has been well wide of the mark. I feel I, and the Bears, were hard done by.

I am now waiting to hear what happens next. Most of the top guys involved with disciplinary matters were at the game, which I guess is pretty convenient.

The crazy part of the whole episode was I hadn't got up on my feet for the whole game.

I hadn't said one word to the officials. Then Sullivan Phillips made a clean block and got called for a foul. I ran down the sideline and said: "That was clean" and Neil Wilkinson, from the other side of the court, gave me a technical foul.

It was one of those games where we try and hang around, then win it late on. Neil called Kendrick Warren for two charges but, at our end, they would come and charge into us, then kick the ball back and shoot the three-pointer.

Then he called a goal tend and I said it was no way a goal tend. He T'd me again and that's when I lost it.

Ironically, my opposite number Peter Scantlebury didn't shut up the whole game. He was bitching at the officials the whole game and got nothing for it.

I thought the officials over-reacted. They thought: "It's going to be a tough Sheffield v Brighton cup game" but in fact the teams weren't even going for it that hard. The game was easing towards a finish, then the whole thing went bonkers.

We didn't play that well but we were playing well enough until all that happened.

We have bounced back from that defeat and had a great week of practice.

I've brought in a guy called James Brace, a strength and conditioning coach, and he has been taking the players for cardio-vascular work before training. We've been coming in at 8.30am each day and working hard.

I want to put a better physical effort out there on the floor and we are not yet where I want us to be. I'm going to change that. We've got a deep squad but we need to play harder.

I like the weapons we have but they have got to come to play. Jason Siemon wasn't very good against Chester last week so he sat down and Andrew Alleyne came in and picked up for him.

Andy Gardiner didn't hit some shots, he was pretty tired with a new baby in the house, but Yorick Williams came in and hit three threes. That was a nice start by him.

We're now less than a fortnight away from our home ULEB Cup game with Croatia Split Insurance. I see at brightonbears.com they are calling this "the biggest game in the Bears' history" and that is spot on. There's absolutely no doubt about it.

Taking on the former European champions is a huge challenge but I believe this could be a good time to play them.

We've some games under belts and we've learned some lessons the hard way. I'm excited about it and I'm excited about seeing an improved effort at Bracknell on Saturday night. Who will start in that game and who will play which minutes? You know something? I don't even know that myself yet. It should be interesting.
