Promotion hopefuls Midhurst and Easebourne returned to winning ways despite a dreadful start at home to struggling Lancing.
With eight minutes gone the visitors were 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Chris Mahoney and John Dutton.
But James Glue pulled one back before half time and Midhurst went on to win 5-2 thanks to goals from Justin Thorpe, Peter Ainsley, Lee Andrews and James Boon.
Manager Tim Dummer said: "Once we got into our stride we were okay. It was one-way traffic in the second half."
The result moved Midhurst on to level points with leaders Worthing United, who were not in league action.
Eastbourne United went fourth in the table with a 2-1 win away to Wealden.
Tom Burton forced home the opener for United on 27 minutes but they were left with an uphill task when Nima Cham was sent off five minutes into the second half.
Wealden drew level when Steve Costick converted a penalty after United keeper Dave Browning had clashed with Leighton Allen but Mark Warren struck 13 minutes from time to give the visitors victory.
United boss Dave Shearing said: "Maybe they had an off day but we were miles better than them."
Wick went eighth after a scrappy 1-0 win at home to Haywards Heath.
Defender Tony Miles got the only goal from a Paul Rapps cross but Wick boss Andy Gander was not happy.
He said: "After the good result we had the previous week we struggled against a side who were not as good as Eastbourne Town. Sometimes, though, you need good opposition to have a good game."
At the bottom Pease Pottage twice came from behind to force a 2-2 draw with Seaford.
Adam Kneller gave Seaford the lead with a screaming effort on 24 minutes but Gareth Neathey netted his first early in the second half. Simon Halsey restored the visitors' lead but Pottage took a share of the spoils when Darren Moore fouled Neathey and he got up to convert an 87th minute penalty.
In an exciting game Tom Callaghan twice hit the bar for Seaford and team-mate Halsey struck a post, while visiting keeper Bob Thomsett made some good saves in the second half.
Pottage boss Bob Pyle said: "We were very poor in the first half, I had a little rant at the players at half time and they played much better in the second half."
Mile Oak ended a dismal sequence of results with a 1-0 win at home to Westfield. The only goal came from a Scott Carden corner on 58 minutes. Nick Martin headed against the bar, Steve Porter knocked the rebound back into the box and Neil Roberts finished it off.
