Two Sussex hotels are enjoying a double celebration after being named best in the region.
Ashdown Park Hotel at Wych Cross, East Sussex, and South Lodge Hotel, Lower Beeding, were champions in the Tourism South-East awards.
The former won the over-50 bedrooms category and was named Large Hotel of the Year.
Judges described the four-star hotel in 187 acres of grounds and woodland as "one of the region's showcase hotels".
South Lodge Hotel was described as " a hidden gem" in scooping the Small Hotel of the Year award.
The owners were presented with trophies and certificates by broadcaster Alastair Stewart.
Nigel Walmsley, Tourism South-East's chairman, said: "These awards are now seen as the premier competition for those operating in tourism today."
Both hotels will go forward to the Excellence in England final in London on St George's Day, April 23, 2004.
