I fail to understand the logic behind Dave Stone's opposition to a cycle lane on Worthing seafront (Letters, October 29).
He is worried he might be injured by a cyclist riding at 15mph.
How many such accidents have occurred in Sussex during the past year?
I haven't read about any, although I accept there may have been a handful.
Yet you can read every day about pedestrians being injured by car drivers, often fatally.
There are thousands of deaths due to bad drivers every year.
Surely it is logical to be more concerned about the ever-present risk of being severely injured by badly-driven cars than the far more remote possibility of receiving a few bruises if struck by a cyclist?
Mr Stone needs to get his priorities right. I trust he isn't one of those pedestrians who doggedly persist in walking in the middle of cycle lanes where they do exist, thus inviting collisions.
