An extra time goal from leading scorer Sam Francis gave Worthing a highly commendable win at Cambridge City.
A topsy turvy replay saw Ben Carrington fire Rebels ahead on the half hour following a cross from the left by Francis.
Danny Bloomfield slotted home the equaliser before the interval and Rob Nightingale gave the hosts the lead midway through the second half.
But French striker Florian Mateos, introduced as substitute for the injured Glen Davies, quickly made his presence felt by taking the tie into extra time with a superb lob on 80 minutes following a pass by Gavin Geddes.
Former Withdean striker Francis clinched it for Rebels ten minutes into extra time by seizing on a ball from Owen Hill to record his 12th goal of the season.
Rebels assistant boss Danny Bloor said: "This was a great display." They now travel to Whyteleafe.
