A motorist tried to abduct a teenage girl as she walked home through Worthing.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Columbia Drive on Thursday.
A man driving a green car offered the 15-year-old girl a lift at about 9.45pm.
When she refused, he asked for a light and grabbed her wrist as she leaned forward.
She pulled away and the man drove off along Durrington Lane.
He is described as Asian, in his 30s, with grey wavy hair, chubby build and pock-marked skin.
Detective Sergeant Pete Yarrow said: "We are treating this as an attempted abduction and would ask anyone with information to help us in this investigation by contacting police on 0845 6070999."
