Bus fares are to increase as East Sussex County Council battles to raise thousands of pounds to keep services going.
Five bus routes in Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne and Lewes were threatened after operators RDH Services and Renown pulled out of running them.
The council says the 26, 27A, 123, 126 and 145 will be maintained but need an extra £70,000 a year.
The additional cost means fares are likely to rise by at least 20p and less well-used services across East Sussex could be reduced.
Councillor Tony Reid, cabinet member for transport, blamed the Government for lack of funding.
He said: "The costs of providing bus services continue to rise well above the rate of inflation.
"This year's very poor settlement to East Sussex County Council by central Government only serves to make supporting these vital services more expensive for council tax payers."
Minor changes are expected to be made to existing services and details can be found at libraries and tourist information centres.
Fares will go up on November 24.
