Television presenter Gail Porter must take medication for the rest of her life after a ten-year battle with anorexia.
The diminutive star, who weighed just 6st 7lb at her lowest point, revealed she kept her fridge empty of food so she could not eat when hunger pains kicked in.
But as a result of starving herself for a decade, the 32-year-old has a permanent thyroid problem and must take pills every day or suffer further damage to her health.
Gail told this week's Closer magazine: "I've got all sorts of problems now. I want to tell any girl out there who's thinking of not eating, 'Don't do it'.
"You only get one life and I wasted so much time worrying about myself and being so selfish."
Gail said her husband, former Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave, who is from Eastbourne, was shocked when they started dating and all he found was a bottle of vodka and some face cream in her fridge.
Dan, a former pupil at Cavendish School in Eastbourne, helped Gail win her fight with anorexia and the pair married two years ago. They have a year-old daughter, Honey.
