With reference to your article "Memorial facelift" (The Argus, November 6), some four or five years ago I wrote there were no names commemorating our servicemen who lost their lives in the 1939-45 war.
I also took the matter up with our local branch of the Royal British Legion and attended a meeting of the local branch where it was said the Legion could not do anything.
Brighton Council gave the same reply, stating there was a book of remembrance in St Peter's Church.
This I already knew but very few people do and I strongly feel it is not the same.
I left the Legion on principle over this matter, having been a member for years.
Surely someone is strong enough to get this rectified?
I think it is unfair on all the families affected. Could a fund for donations be set up if necessary to cover the cost?
