Brighton and Hove has a Pride festival each year. So, how much pride does the City take in its Patcham Memorial Garden which was intended to honour the servicemen who died in the world wars?
Sunday was Remembrance Day yet our garden is a neglected and vandalised ruin. A small number of youngsters seem intent on wrecking the garden, which used to draw visitors from a large area.
Nothing is done to repair the damage. Bicycles are ridden through the bed of peace roses, the stone pavement is ripped up and spread over the grass and one of the ornamental columns has been destroyed.
Part of the pavement has been in a dangerous condition for many months and the compensation which might be claimed by anyone falling there would far exceed the cost of repairs.
Isn't it time the city started remembering?
