Crawley and Horsham retained the Sussex inter-league men's singles title with a final round 3-1 victory over Brighton.
Brighton No.1 Paul Elphick said: "This tournament is all about Ritchie Venner. No one is likely to beat him, so his partner Simon Pink must lose and Crawley must lose the doubles for other teams to progress."
After Crawley's victory, Elphick's verdict was proved accurate. Brighton led 2-0 in the doubles, but Elphick and Wesley Bush-Harris could not hold the advantage.
Venner was unbeaten all day and Pink lost one game in the final.
Sarah Stedman and Sam Stepney lifted the women's title for South West Sussex, overpowering Brighton, Hastings and Eastbourne in a round-robin contest.
Crawley picked up two more medals in the veterans event. Their first and second teams came first and third with Graham Carter and Fawzi Yousif taking gold.
In the county championships premier division Sussex veterans defeated Essex 6-4 and Yorkshire 7-3 and are now second in the table.
