Ammunition and parts of a gun were found when police raided a house.
A team of officers searched the home in Cumberland Road, Bexhill, and found a quantity of shotgun and air rifle ammunition.
Inspector Barry Markham said: "The operation was very successful.
"Gun crime in this area is almost unknown, but we all feel safer knowing that ammunition has been removed from possible unlawful possession.
He added: "I wish to thank the residents of Cumberland Road for their patience. It was necessary to prevent people entering the area for a short while and I am aware it caused some disruption."
Police refused to reveal the exact quantity of the haul and have just released details of Monday's incident.
A 32-year-old man was arrested for unlawful possession of ammunition and part of a firearm and was released on police bail.
Another man was arrested in relation to a number of burglaries.
