Danny Wilson has not ruled out returning to Albion as manager.
Chairman Dick Knight wanted Wilson before Martin Hinshelwood was appointed, but Bristol City rejected his approach for the popular former skipper of the Seagulls.
Wilson said: "I was very proud to be captain of the club in the time I was there. It was a great time for me.
"I have a terrific relationship with the fans and one day you never know."
Meanwhile, the hangover from Albion's heaviest ever defeat at Withdean against Bristol City has gradually worn off.
Boss Mark McGhee said: "The response was slow on Monday. We had to drag it out of them a wee bit and beat them up to a degree because they were disappointed and a little bit down.
"Training on Tuesday was much more like it, probably as good as I've seen since I've been here in terms of tempo and aggression. We have got to try and keep that going until Saturday and take it into the Notts County game."
