We have been studying English in Brighton for several weeks and have noticed many differences between the lifestyles of young people here and in the Orient.
English students in school and higher education have much more free time. In Japan and Korea we study for longer, have extra classes on Saturdays and go to extra "cram school" after regular lessons.
Young people in England leave their parents' homes much earlier than in the Orient. Living alone in our countries is expensive so we often stay with our parents until marriage.
Finally, it has been a big surprise for us to see the drinking behaviour of English teenagers and young adults.
They get drunk very quickly, then get very aggressive and make a lot of noise at night. Oriental people also get drunk quickly but do not behave in antisocial ways.
Maybe British and Oriental young people have a lot to learn from each other.
