A Lancing video shop manager was held at knifepoint by armed robbers.
The 27-year-old victim was alone in the Tomorrow's World video store in North Road when two men confronted him at 10.45am yesterday.
One stood by the door and the second went to the counter and asked for a computer game.
The manager turned to get the game and then felt something hard against the side of his neck.
As the robber clasped him with one hand and held a knife to his neck with the other, he was forced to take cash out of the safe and hand it over.
The robbers ran away down North Road.
Linda Cobb, who owns six branches of Tomorrow's World video stores with her husband Trevor, said: "It was a very frightening situation.
"Where our staff are concerned their safety is the most important thing to us. I think he definitely did the right thing.
"We have very stringent measures regarding security, including CCTV in our shops."
Detective Constable Dave Stubbings, of Shoreham CID, said: "At the time the manager was obviously a bit scared but he is all right now.
"Around that area it is quite busy at that time of the morning so if anyone saw anything I need to know."
Mr Stubbings hopes to release a CD-fit of the men later this week. They were described as between 20 and 25.
One wore a baseball cap and a white quilted jacket and the other wore a dark hooded top.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call Shoreham CID on 0845 6070999.
