President Bush has claimed Britain is the land of free speech for allowing anti-war demonstrations. He cannot be aware of the attempts by a small but vociferous minority to stifle free speech by banning one of the long-established traditions of this county, "anti-Popery" bonfire displays.
I see that one person is attempting to impose his will on us all, no doubt helped by the politically correct thought activists who have wormed their way into positions of influence in local government, the media and the police.
This kind of religious bigotry is a menace to us all. I am not a Catholic and I think their policies on voluntary euthanasia and abortion are mistaken but I respect their right to promote them, just as they must respect mine to disagree.
