When Tipsy the terrier was crushed under a car, her owners held out little hope she would ever walk again.
Thanks to a "wheelie" good invention, however, the five-year-old has begun pounding the pavements again.
Tipsy was abandoned as a puppy and spent her formative years at Battersea Dogs Home in south London.
She was found a loving home in Eastbourne but suffered fresh trauma when she was run over by a car while chasing rabbits, leaving her back legs paralysed.
Despite a six-hour operation to piece her back together, owners Ray and Maureen Cooper thought they would have to carry her about for the rest of her life.
Help eventually came from the internet after the couple's daughter-in-law tracked down a Leeds-based company which provided a special harness and wheels set to attach to Tipsy's body.
The wheels allow Tipsy to pull herself around without needing to use her back legs.
Mr Cooper, 72, from the North Harbour, Eastbourne, said: "She really gets herself around. I find it difficult to keep up with her sometimes."
