My reaction when seeing the news about the chosen site in Peacehaven East for the new sewage works was it has to be a joke (The Argus, November 27).
Why should we have to be the dumping ground for sewage from Brighton and Hove?
It seems that the someone got his pin out and stuck it in the map to find a site, saying: "As long as it is outside the Brighton and Hove boundary no one will object. We mustn't devalue the properties in the city".
This is the same way he or she picked the Newhaven site for the waste incinerator for Brighton and Hove's rubbish.
All cities should have to deal with their own sewage. Why can't Brighton and Hove have two smaller sites?
Portobello should be modernised and upgraded and a second smaller site should be found within the city's boundary instead of one large one which no one wants.
The people of Peacehaven are not going to accept this proposal without a fight.
