Leaders Chichester suffered their first league defeat of the season as they went down 3-1 at Hailsham.
Joint Hailsham boss Steve Latuske said "We knew if we got at them early we could cause an upset."
Nick Barden struck a lucky opener on 33 minutes when his speculative shot from the halfway line caught in the wind and bounced over the visitors' keeper.
After the break Barden was again involved when his cross found Mark French at the far post to slot in.
Chichester pulled one back on 78 minutes when Paul Thomas beat the offside trap but Simon Stevens restored the two-goal advantage with a low strike moments later.
A Pat Massaro hat-trick helped Three Bridges win 3-2 at Pagham.
The striker scored late in the first half from the penalty spot after Gareth Green had been fouled.
On 55 minutes he added a second from a Simon Funnell cross before James Heller replied for Pagham.
However, it took Massaro only two minutes to complete his trio when he again converted a Funnell cross. Matt Beard scored an injury-time penalty for Pagham.
Sidley had to settle for a point at home to Southwick. After a goalless first half the visitors took the lead through substitute Terry Streeter but Adam Day drew Sidley level from the spot ten minutes from time after Kevin Rose had been fouled.
All other first division games were postponed due to the weather.
In the John O'Hara League Cup, Eastbourne Town hammered Horsham YMCA 6-0 at the Saffrons.
Graham Holman scored a hat-trick with Stefan Fuller, Yemi Odubade and an own goal completing the rout.
Manager Dave Winterton said: "Graham is a frustrating player. At times you think he looks not particularly interested but the three goals he scored were all quality.
"He has got a bit of pace and he has done really well since he came here. The good thing is we have got competition for places.
"We are playing some good football and hopefully that will bring the supporters back."
