Armed robbers stole rings, necklaces and bracelets from a jewellery shop before making their escape on a motorbike.
The robbers entered Clarks jewellers on Cliffe Bridge, Lewes, at 10.35am on Friday.
They wore crash helmets and threatened staff with a handgun before stealing the jewellery.
One wore a black jacket with a red symbol on the back while the other had a white helmet with the letters FM in black on the back.
They made off on a red Honda 600cc motorbike, which was later found dumped in a lay-by on the road between the Southerham roundabout and the Culfail Tunnel on the edge of Lewes.
Shop workers were left shaken but were not physically hurt.
Sussex Police used its helicopter to search the area but the gang fled.
