In response to complaints by East Sussex County Council about its shortage of money, it would be better off if it was less profligate with our cash.
Two recent examples: Firstly, £250,000 to be spent on a totally unnecessary inquiry into the South Downs National Park which was supported by more than 80 per cent of the people consulted by the Countryside Agency.
Secondly, £300,000 to be spent on a feasibility study for a bypass in Hastings which has been rejected by the Government because of its danger to the environment.
