Brighton Bears have signed former NBA power forward Olumide Oyedeji to boost their ULEB Cup campaign.
The 6ft 10ins, 22-year old Nigerian international, who played 27 times for Orlando Magic last season, has teamed up for the second time with Bears chief Nick Nurse on a short-term deal as he looks to get back into the big league.
He has not, however, secured clearance in time to feature in tonight's clash with Prokom Trefl Sopot at the Triangle (8pm).
Instead Oyedeji is being lined up for a debut at Cholet next week, though Bears hope he will attend tonight's match.
Nurse, who coached Oyedeji in the Treviso Summer League said: "It's a very exciting signing. I don't quite know what to expect from him but I'm trying to get him back on his feet.
"If he's right, he will be as good as any rebounder in Europe."
Bears have been handed a major boost with the return of forward Tom Frederick from a foot injury.
They are determined to score their first European win, and that will mean making a brisk start against the Polish League leaders.
Nurse added: "Before our other games even I might have been guilty of saying 'Hey, the opposition are good' but let's go in revved up this time thinking we can get this done at home."
