A group of girls who want to travel to America to dance in New York have begun a series of sponsored events to fund the trip.
The girls from East Brighton College of Media Arts (Comart) in Whitehawk successfully completed a four-hour bike ride, raising £700 to help pay for the trip called Here Comes The Sun.
The event, in which the 11 girls were joined by teachers and friends, took place in high winds and torrential rain at the Preston Park cycle track on November 9.
Lolly Dowse and Kate Macairt, project leaders for the Comart Danceart Group, are hoping the girls can raise about £20,000 for the trip.
Lolly said: "The girls had great fun and it was wonderful to see them so focused on achieving their dream."
Kate said: "The school is very proud of the Danceart Group."
The Danceart group had more good news this week when it was awarded £4,500 from The Scarman Trust to fund the weekly dance club, performances, costumes and cultural outings.
