Pop starlet Sophie Ellis Bextor wowed radio listeners today by announcing live on air she was pregnant.
Rumours have been rife that Sophie is expecting but the pin-up, whose father lives in Alfriston, today confirmed the good news live on Southern FM.
Sophie, who is three months pregnant, beamed as she told Breakfast Show presenters Nicky Keig-Shevlin and Danny Pike: "I am due in June."
The singer, who had hits with Take Me Home and Murder On The Dancefloor, dropped into the studios for a morning chat but couldn't resist announcing she was expecting.
And she told listeners the pregnancy was going well - and said it was a relief to finally share the news with fans.
She said: "I am due in June. I think I underestimated how much pressure it was not being able to tell anyone so it's lovely everything seems to be going well and I can finally say things.
"It's very difficult to dress in the early bit and it does just look like you've put on a bit of weight.
"It is exciting. It is brilliant for the winter as well because one of the side effects is you get warm hands and feet so I don't need gloves or mittens or anything."
