A woman was attacked with a sword at her home in Brighton last night.
Armed police were called to the address in Stanmer Park Road, Hollingdean, Brighton, just before midnight.
The injured woman, believed to be in her 50s, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Police said she might need microsurgery to repair a cut hand.
Police were continuing to search for the offender today. They described the incident as "domestic-related".
