Burglars broke into offices of solicitors acting for Graham Coutts, the man charged with murdering Sussex schoolteacher Jane Longhurst.
Papers connected with the case were found strewn around the office but none are missing.
Stephen Harris, a partner with Harris Paley in St George's Place, Brighton, said: "A TV and video were stolen but we do not believe any papers connected with the case are missing."
Staff discovered the break-in when they arrived for work yesterday morning.
Coutts, 35, a part-time musician and salesman, of Waterloo Street, Hove, denies murdering 31-year-old Miss Longhurst, of Shaftesbury Road, Brighton, between March 13 and April 20.
A trial, expected to last three weeks, is due to start on January 12.
