Michel Kuipers will be back training "in a week or so," Albion manager Mark McGhee has revealed.
The goalkeeper has returned to the club full-time for rehab this week following a recent car crash.
McGhee said: "I hope he'll be back training before next Friday's Port Vale game but he'll certainly be back before the Tranmere game on the 20th.
"I'm glad Michel's come back as quickly. I remember that morning when we were training and we got the word that he'd had this terrible accident, he'd been airlifted out and all sorts. We thought 'Oh, my God' and feared the worst."
McGhee confirmed he would not bring in a goalkeeper on loan and that John Keeley, 42, the goalkeeping coach and kitman, would continue as substitute for Ben Roberts in the LDV Vans Trophy tie at Loftus Road on Sunday.
"I don't know whether John will be up to going on and doing the job properly or not but I'm not going to lose any sleep over that.
"We'll just hope Ben stays fit. And if something happened to Ben and John came on, regardless of what happens, it's only one game and we could go out the next day and get a goalkeeper.
"There's cost as well. We haven't got the sort of money to just go out and indulge ourselves on a goalkeeper who's never going to play and a week later Michel's going to be back fit."
McGhee plans to get his dancing shoes on for after the Trophy showdown after learning QPR have been preparing through ballet.
He said: "If we win I might be dancing.
"I know one or two of the players, like Mark Bircham who I had at Millwall and I cannot imagine them ballet dancing. But I remember all the way back to when I was at Newcastle in the seventies Lenny Heppell who used to take players for agility and dancing.
"We played badminton this week because it is training which keeps them ticking over and is also about movement, agility and flexibility, particularly for the bigger players like Guy Butters."
Captain Danny Cullip hopes Albion can score a successive hat-trick of wins following wins against Notts County and Wrexham. He said: "We want to carry our little run on as it is breeding confidence."
