Burglars broke into a Shoreham primary school hours before its Christmas fair and stole tombola prizes.
Parents and staff had spent hours putting finishing touches to displays and stalls at Kingston Buci First School in Middle Road, Shoreham, on Friday ready for Saturday's event.
When the caretaker arrived on Saturday morning he discovered a broken glass panel in the hall door and prizes, including a bottle of Glenfiddich whisky and wine, missing.
The school's CD player was also taken. Police are investigating the break-in.
Headteacher Margaret Maiden said: "It is a very sad thing that someone would do this. The fair was to raise funds for some play equipment for the children.
"We are really upset because all these things have been donated as prizes in order for the school to raise as much money as possible."
