Crawley survived a late fightback from Eastbourne to win 20-19 and climb two places to sixth in London Four South.
The home side looked completely in control in the first half with a try from Paul Sparkes plus two penalties and a conversion for Andy Evans giving them a 13-0 lead.
Eastbourne hit back with a try from Danny Craven two minutes after the restart but Crawley regained the initiative when scrum half John Doyle went over and the conversion from Evans made the score 20-5.
But in the last 20 minutes Adam Tennant scored two tries for the visitors, both converted by hooker Nathan Ringer, and only some desperate defending prevented them completing a remarkable comeback.
East Grinstead's promotion hopes took a massive blow as they produced their worst performance since the opening day of the season to lose 14-10 at Bromley.
Despite dominating the first half the visitors only had a Steve O'Reilly penalty to show for their efforts to trail 7-3 at the break. They fell further behind through a converted try two minutes after the restart and although Steve Thayre gave them hope with a try converted by O'Reilly it was not enough.
Uckfield remain bottom of the pile after being comprehensively beaten 40-5 at leaders Old Dunstonians.
