A policeman remained seriously ill in hospital today after a crash which claimed the life of his wife.
Detective Constable Richard Bollard, 46, suffered multiple injuries when the Honda motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a Transit van.
Pillion passenger Jane Bollard, 47, from Peacehaven, died in the accident on Saturday morning on the A26 at Southease, Newhaven.
Mrs Bollard worked as a clerk at Newhaven police station. Her husband is based at CID headquarters in Brighton.
The couple have two sons and the family said in a statement today that they wished to thank friends and colleagues for their support and good wishes.
