Interviewed on BBC Radio 4, Hove MP Ivor Caplin was questioned on the failure of equipment used by British forces in Iraq.
He replied with the usual Blair-speak non-committal explanation beloved of New Labour politicians.
When he had finished I was as much in the dark as when he started. He failed to apologise for this failure of equipment.
A question for Mr Caplin: when we went to war in the Gulf we were told it was to conquer an "evil empire".
If this was the case, why is the British taxpayer footing the bill and not Iraq with all its oil wealth?
-Mike Mitchell, Hove
