Broadcast have been on the verge of greatness since 2000, when they launched their The Noise Made By People album. But it has never happened.
The band, who hail from Birmingham but are signed to Sheffield label Warp, are perhaps just too strange for the big time.
They have drawn comparisons with Stereolab but a closer reference point might be Saint Etienne, although their sound is probably a bit more "far out".
It wasn't a packed audience and it wasn't exactly a set to jump around to but that was not the point. They know their limitations and play to their strengths.
Trish Keenan has a wonderful voice and the rest of the band left enough space in their wall of sound for it to shine.
The sound of tinkling keyboards competed with samples, animal guitar and the sort of spacey sounds we love analogue equipment for - but, at heart, there is some strong song writing.
Broadcast were stunning and so much better than the usual rubbish we get at these events.
So, congratulations all around.
