A Butlins Redcoat who lied to win a starring role in a TV docusoap now wants to become a pop idol.
Daniel James, 18, has been starring in a BBC docusoap about entertainers at the holiday camp in Bognor.
He will be seen on the final show of the BBC3 series Red Coats tomorrow recording a song written by his father which he hopes will launch his career as a pop star.
Former Butlins Redcoats who have found fame and fortune in showbiz include Sir Cliff Richard, Darren Day, Johnny Ball, Jimmy Tarbuck, Michael Barrymore and H from Steps.
Daniel, from Hove, was only 17 when auditions were held in London last January but claimed he was 18 to defy an age limit.
He said: "I have never told Butlins I wasn't old enough and I don't think they know."
He grew up in Kendal in Cumbria, son of professional songwriter Kelvin James.
Daniel said: "He wrote To Your Heart, the song you will see me recording on Red Coats, for me. It is a love song and will be released on St Valentine's Day. I want to see how far I can get on my own because I'm confident I can make it."
