Albion manager Mark McGhee has confirmed an interest in free-scoring striker Jamie Cureton.
The former Reading marksman wants to return to English football following a spell with Busan Icons in South Korea.
McGhee said: "I know he is available and coming back. I know he can score goals and he is one we are considering.
"I don't know his contractual situation, it hasn't gone that far."
The 5ft 8ins Cureton has scored 128 goals in 316 League games for Norwich, Bournemouth, Bristol Rovers and Reading.
He was released in the summer after three seasons at Reading in which he hit 50 goals in 108 appearances.
Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City, two of Albion's Second Division promotion rivals, have also been linked with the 28-year-old Cureton.
Meanwhile, McGhee will be asking Fulham if he can keep Zesh Rehman on loan for longer.
The young midfielder made the final appearance of his second month with the Seagulls in Friday's 1-1 home draw against Port Vale.
McGhee said: "We need players until people like Richard Carpenter and Charlie Oatway are fit."
