A woman threatened to jump off a notorious suicide spot and take a police officer with her, a court heard.

Paige Tapp made more than 60 calls to police threatening to leap from Beachy Head.

The mother was repeatedly found sitting on the edge of cliffs after her two children were taken away.

On one occasion Tapp was talked away from the 500ft drop by Eastbourne police officer Sasha Coote.

She then made more calls and told officers who went to her aid that she wanted to go over the edge, taking PC Coote with her.

Tapp, 22, was arrested in August after repeating the threats against the officer to colleagues and a social worker.

Richard Keogh, prosecuting, said the defendant had put other officers at risk by running along the cliff edge in a storm as darkness fell.

He said: "After her arrest she was asked why she disliked PC Coote and she said that it was because she had stopped her killing herself."

Tapp, of Salehurst Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to three charges of making threats to kill PC Coote.

She appeared at Hove Crown Court for sentence yesterday.

The court heard she had been suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder and depression since her children were taken away from her.

She had been on remand in Holloway Prison since her arrest.

Rob Hall, defending, said: "Her calls from Beachy Head were cries for help from someone who quite simply had nobody else in her life.

"The trigger was the loss of her two daughters who gave her someone to care for, to protect and who would love her back."

Judge Niblett adjourned sentence until February 6, and asked for an up-to-date psychiatric report.
