Three football fans were cheered by thousands of supporters after finishing a 50-mile fund-raising tour.

Alison and Andrew Nuttall, from Brighton, were joined by their brother, David, who flew from the United States, for the walk in memory of their mother, Margaret, who died from cancer ten years ago.

At the end of their whistle-stop tour, the trio were called out on to the pitch at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium to the acclaim of thousands of football fans.

The trio spent 36 hours walking between ten football stadiums in London to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Alison, 36, said: "We were expecting to be able to go out on to the pitch at half-time and take some photos but we certainly did not expect to be announced on the PA system and have a big build-up to the moment."

The trio set off from Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park stadium at 7am on Friday and arrived at Stamford Bridge the following afternoon in time for the 3pm kick-off of Bolton's surprise 2-1 win over big-spenders Chelsea.

The trio also visited the grounds of Arsenal, Brentford, Charlton Athletic, Leyton Orient, Millwall, QPR, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

For the last ten miles they were joined by Alison's ten-year-old daughter, Evelyn, and the trio's father, Derek. About £2,000 was raised from the event.
