The new year brought no change of fortunes for Horsham as they crashed at Croydon.
The Trams took the lead after seven minutes when James Cecil headed in at the far post from Michael Ebanks' corner and it was 2-0 after 42 minutes when Craig Dundas was played through the Horsham defence.
Croydon made it 3-0 just after the hour. Andy Frith shot against the post, Matt Ottley cleared the follow-up off the line, Luke Burton saved the third attempt and when Stuart Read sliced the ball across the face of the goal, Dundas deflected it home.
Horsham woke up after the introduction of Rhod Davis and Carlo Castrechino, and they pulled a goal back on 70 minutes when Davis cut the ball back and John Kirby ran in to bundle it over the line.
Five minutes later it was 3-2 as Gary Charman headed in at the far post but with Horsham throwing everything forward, a break in the 89th minute saw Warren Burton drill a low shot past Burton to seal the win.
