I would like to draw your attention to the state of the so-called lawns in the Steine Gardens.
Prior to the removal of the small railings around the lawns, the grass was kept in good shape.
Even when there was a dry spell, the lawns where lucky enough to have their own water supply.
In my younger days there were even notices saying "Keep off the grass".
I suggest that those in charge of our gardens should consider whether those in the past, who seemed to make a good job of things, could teach us that we have lately made some false economies.
I used to be proud of the parks and garden department of the corporation but I'm not even sure whether we have such a department now.
